Hours
We are open weekdays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm with the exception of Wednesdays.
Childcare
Free childcare is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings while parents participate in programs or have some time to themselves.
We have two child development rooms; one room is for children age 6 months to 24 months, the other is for children 24 months and up providing they have not started primary. Parents are welcome to stay with their children in the child development rooms if they wish.
Parents must remain on-site at all times with the exception of the monthly Parent Time Out Program.
July Programming Highlights
Public Health Services:
This service is held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Drop in to see a Public Health Nurse for a family consultation or to attend the information sessions that will be offered. The information sessions are held on the second Tuesday of the month. Topics will be posted prior to the date. The dates for the July Public Health Services are Tuesday, July 8th and 22nd... There will be no information sessions during July and August.
Monthly Parent Gathering
All participants are welcome to join us on Thursday, July 3rd at 10:00 am for the Monthly Parent Gathering and Pamper Yourself session. This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas regarding programs and activities and to spend some time getting to know other people in the community. Childcare is provided and snacks will be available. Materials for the pampering will be provided. Come and relax and take some time to pamper yourself!
Summer Programming for School Children Did you know: that Parent ‘n Tot also provides activities for school age children (5 yrs. to 11 yrs.) during summer vacation? Watch for our June Newsletter!

Volunteers Needed:
We are always in need of volunteers in many capacities; childcare, parent council, program facilitation, centre orientation etc…. If you would like to be involved in one of these capacities, please speak to a staff member.

Resources and Services
For Your Information
The Halifax West Food Bank has found a new home! The new location for the food bank is the Salvation Army building at 50 Gesner St., at the top of Fairview.
The food bank will be open to clients on Tuesdays’ from the hours of 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm. If you require more information about the food bank, call 443-1776 on Tuesdays.
Home Visits: If you are unsure about visiting the centre, give us a call. A staff member can visit and answer any questions you may have.
Clothing Room: We accept small donations of new or nearly new children’s clothing depending on storage availability. Food Box: We have a food box on-site if you require assistance with non-perishable food items
Resource Library: A variety of pamphlets, books and videos are available for borrowing
Suggestion Box:
Do you have a suggestion, idea or feedback that you would like to share? Please feel free to speak to a staff member or please inset a note in our suggestion box. The suggestion box is placed out in the hall whenever the centre is open.
Parent’s and Children’s Lending Libraries
On-site children’s and parent’s lending libraries are available to participating families.
Sodexho Food Brown Bag Lunches
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Sodexho Foods for providing us with the Brown Bag Lunches this summer. These lunches will be distributed to the children who attend the centre each day.
Offsite Programs
On Wednesdays participants of the centre are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of the following free offsite programs:
